Take a look at these 5 things that could be doing damage to the exterior of your vehicle:

1. Coffee & Soda contain acids that are harmful to your vehicles paint job. Anytime you spill them on your car, make sure to wipe it off immediately and don’t let it just sit there!

2. Insects can enamel themselves to your car and if you don’t deal with them pronto, they can actually become a part of your paint job.

3. Gasoline is nearly impossible to completely remove once it has set in. If you get gas on your car while fueling, wipe gas off the paint with an instant detailer and a microfiber cloth asap.

4. Bird Poop is another thing that has acidic properties, so don’t let it sit on your automobile’s paint for days.

5. Sprinklers leave water spots that it leaves on your car can get baked in by the sun and become impossible to remove.

The key to keeping your car’s paint job smooth and shiny is to be aware of all these common elements that can do it harm. Here are some hlepful tips

kids halloween costumes trick treat

Halloween is an exciting time of year for kids, and to help ensure they have a safe holiday, parents, family, neighbors, and friends should follow some simple tips. These tips are provided by the American Academy of Pediatrics and Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. At Anderson Behel in Santa Clara, CA we work here and many of us live here, so we’re always happy to provide information that can help the residents of this great city.

Halloween Safety

Because pedestrian injuries are the most common injuries to children on Halloween, remember to stay in a group and communicate where you are going. Use reflective tape for costumes and trick-or-treat bags and remain on well-lit streets and always use the sidewalk. If no sidewalk is available, walk at the far edge of the roadway facing traffic.

When crossing the street, do it as a group in established crosswalks and never cross between parked cars or out of driveways. Please don’t assume the right of way. Motorists may have trouble seeing Trick-or-Treaters, and just because one car stops, doesn't mean others will!

Santa Clara Valley Medical Center supports having a healthier community and suggests families have a healthy meal before going to parties or out trick-or-treating. This can help youngsters from filling up on Halloween treats. Also, wait until children are home to eat treats. Though tampering is rare, a responsible adult should closely examine all treats and throw away any spoiled, unwrapped or suspicious items. Once the treats are checked, you may want to try to ration treats for the days following Halloween.

Halloween Safety Tips

·         See and be seen - wear light colored clothing and costumes. Also, wear an appropriately sized costume to prevent tripping on overly large costumes.

·         Remove any masks or costume pieces that may impede visual field before crossing the street.

·         Take a flashlight. Not only do they light the way, they also make you more visible to drivers.

·         Walk and don’t run.

·         Don’t cut corners – cross at corners where you can be seen by drivers, and may have access to a cross walk. Do not cross between parked cars or mid -lock.

·         Hold hands – hold a small child’s hand when crossing the street or when near the street/curb. Small children are impulsive and can easily dart in front of a moving vehicle.

·         Make eye contact – never assume a driver sees you. Make eye contact with the driver before entering the street or crosswalk.

·         The CDC recommends parents assist children with crossing the street up to age 10. Before age 10 children do not possess the cognitive ability to recognize and process factors necessary for safe street crossing.

Enjoy a fun and slightly scary Halloween!

Janis Joplin's Porsche Goes to Auction

Iconic Late Rocker's Car for Sale

Janis Joplin's psychedelic car – a pearl-white 1965 Porsche 365c 1600 Cabriolet painted with a kaleidoscopic Flower Power mural – is heading to auction this December as part of RM Sotheby's "Driven By Disruption" sale. The vehicle is expected to sell for more than $400,000, The Guardian reports. Since we’re now certified to work on Porsches, if you buy this car and need someone to fix it, Anderson Behel in Santa Clara, CA will do a rocking job for you on this Porsche or any Porsche!

Joplin purchased the Porsche secondhand in 1968, recruiting Big Brother and the Holding Company roadie Dave Richards to add the flashy paint job, which depicts the "History of the Universe" with images of butterflies and jellyfish along with Joplin and the band.

According to Sotheby's, Joplin owned the car until her death in October 1970, with manager Albert Grossman driving the distinctive ride for several years after. In the early Nineties, the vehicle was "restored to its 1960s luster" and displayed at Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where it's resided for the past two decades.

"Janis drove everywhere, all around San Francisco and down to Los Angeles when she was recording there," Joplin's sister and biographer Laura told Sotheby's. "Wherever Janis went in the car, her fans recognized it. When she parked it and returned, there was always at least one note under the wipers."

"Besides Janis' music and legacy, her Porsche is the most visual and important piece of memorabilia that exists," Joplin's brother Michael add. "Like most people and their car of choice, her Porsche is a direct link to Janis. She drove it everywhere – and with everyone that was anyone in the San Francisco music scene – with the top down and her feathers flying. Her music, life and car are a part of rock and roll history."

The "Driven By Disruption" sale will take place December 10th at RM Sotheby's in New York City. The event will feature "30 creatively-styled and pioneering motor cars and select automotive-themed artwork."
